Her career

A career dedicated to children's feet.

Dr Anna Ey's story brings together medical training, international experience and an approach to paediatric orthopaedics based on precision, personal care and respect for every family.

1983–1996 · Medical training

Dr Anna Ey holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona, where she studied between 1983 and 1989. She then specialised in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology and completed her MIR residency at Hospital de Bellvitge's teaching unit.

Her training continued with a Master's in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology from the Central University of Barcelona (1996) and the EUROSPINE European Diploma in Spine Surgery. Her experience spans paediatric orthopaedics, particularly problems affecting the clubfoot, as well as spinal conditions.

1997 · The Ponseti method

Her relationship with the Ponseti method for clubfoot treatment began in 1997, when she met Dr Ignacio Ponseti in Barcelona. Since then she has maintained the complete method, applying it rigorously to treating clubfoot and extending its application to previously operated feet, adult patients and sequelae of uncommon deformities.

A practice with international reach

Dr Anna Ey helped establish and develop associations linked to the method: the foundation of the Ponseti International Association in 2006, the European association in 2012 and the Spanish association in 2014, serving as president of the latter two.

Over her career she has treated successfully more than 5,000 cases, including complex clubfoot cases, previously operated feet, adult patients and sequelae of uncommon deformities. Her experience supports a specialist second opinion when treatment has not progressed as expected or the deformity recurs.

Teaching and support

Her career also includes teaching as associate professor at the University of Barcelona and coordinator of the UB Ponseti Method postgraduate course. Sharing knowledge about treatment of clubfoot is part of her approach: teaching a method well helps more professionals make clear decisions and more families receive dependable support.

Her biography is not just qualifications and figures. Her practice starts from a simple belief: every foot is unique and every child brings a particular family story. She combines rigorous paediatric orthopaedics with attentive listening, explaining each step and caring for the whole process, from initial assessment to follow-up.
