Diagnosis and treatment.
In valgus foot, the hindfoot tilts outward, altering support at the ankle and heel. It may occur alone or alongside changes in the arch.
Examination checks flexibility, correction when support changes and effects on walking. We also assess the leg rather than treating the foot in isolation.
A flexible, painless valgus foot may evolve differently from a rigid, painful foot or one associated with alignment problems. Diagnosis is based on function, not a photograph alone.
The plan may involve monitoring, measures to improve support or further investigation when symptoms and progression warrant it.
Assessment for pain, fatigue or a concerning walking pattern helps decide whether more than observation is needed.
What we analyse
We observe heel behaviour under load, foot movement and its relationship with the rest of the leg.
A response for each case
The position may be flexible and compensated or part of a condition requiring fuller review. Function and progression guide treatment.
How it is assessed
We examine the hindfoot, ankle and relationship with the whole limb. Decisions depend on function, flexibility and progression, not appearance alone.
